Our sister company, EIVA, a Danish subsea engineering specialist, has been awarded a prestigious contract by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), valued at approximately €3.8 million (£3.2 million). This contract marks a pivotal moment as it brings forth an innovative containerized remotely operated towed vehicle (ROTV) solution to the Royal Navy, powered by EIVA, alongside Voyis’s expertise.
EIVA, renowned for its subsea solutions, will be at the forefront of this project, supplying the UK MoD with a containerised ROTV solution featuring the cutting-edge EIVA ScanFish L. This advanced ROTV system will be integrated into the Royal Navy’s seabed warfare system, offering the capability for simultaneous operations of multiple acoustic survey sensors and instruments from various host platforms.
This groundbreaking ROTV solution from EIVA will be capable of performing a wide range of functions, including but not limited to:
1. Pipeline Inspection: Ensuring the integrity and safety of critical underwater infrastructure.
2. Large Area Searches and Mine Countermeasure (MCM) Operations: Enhancing security and safeguarding maritime environments.
3. Site Surveys and Seabed Mapping: Providing essential data for scientific research and navigation.
4. Cable Route Surveys: Supporting the expansion and maintenance of communication networks.
5. High-Resolution Object Detection: Enabling precise identification of underwater objects and anomalies.
6. Oceanographic Data Collection: Gaining insights into the marine environment and its behavior through the water column.
This innovative solution will greatly enhance the operational capabilities of the Royal Navy, thanks to the modular design of the ScanFish and the flexibility offered by the containerised solution.
As part of this contract, EIVA will deliver a fully equipped 20′ Cube container module and launch and recovery system, supplied by SH Defence, a subsidiary of SH Group. The ScanFish L ROTV will feature an array of advanced sensors, including the state-of-the-art Sonardyne’s SPRINT-Nav Mini hybrid INS/DVL system.
Voyis plays a crucial role in this groundbreaking project. EIVA’s ROTV system will also be equipped with Voyis’ Observer Pro Stills Camera and Insight Pro Underwater Laser Scanner. These Voyis technologies will provide invaluable capabilities, enhancing the system’s effectiveness in various underwater missions.
The entire system will be powered by EIVA’s NaviSuite software, which efficiently processes and analyzes the data collected, ensuring that users have access to critical insights in real-time. Moreover, the presence of two dedicated workstations within the container will ensure the system’s full operational capability and independence of employment.
