We are thrilled to announce another successful Voyis Expedition. Last week, Voyis and MarineNav Ltd. collaborated to integrate the Voyis Discovery Stereo Camera with the MarineNav Oceanus Ultimate ROV. This integration was conducted in Ontario, Canada, specifically for a hull inspection demonstration.

Precision Meets Robustness

The integration of the Discovery Stereo Camera with the Oceanus Ultimate ROV creates a formidable duo for subsea inspections. The Voyis Discovery Stereo Camera is known for its precise optical sensors, which offer high-resolution imaging and accurate 3D reconstructions of underwater environments. When combined with the robust technology of the MarineNav Oceanus Ultimate ROV, it becomes a powerhouse solution for detailed and reliable hull inspections.

The Importance of Hull Inspections

Hull inspections are critical for ensuring the safety and integrity of underwater structures. These inspections are essential for a variety of reasons:

  1. Safety and Compliance: Regular hull inspections are mandated by regulatory bodies to ensure that vessels meet safety standards. By identifying and addressing potential issues early, we can prevent accidents and ensure the safety of crew members and the environment.
  1. Preventive Maintenance: Hull inspections help in detecting early signs of wear and tear, corrosion, biofouling, and structural damage. Early detection allows for timely maintenance and repairs, extending the vessel’s lifespan and preventing costly emergency repairs.
  1. Operational Efficiency: A well-maintained hull reduces drag, which in turn enhances fuel efficiency and overall vessel performance. Ensuring that the hull is in good condition helps in optimizing operational costs and improving the vessel’s efficiency.
  1. Environmental Protection: Detecting and mitigating issues like biofouling and oil leaks during hull inspections helps in protecting marine ecosystems. Regular inspections ensure that vessels operate in an environmentally responsible manner, reducing their ecological footprint.
  1. Asset Management: For shipowners and operators, regular hull inspections are a crucial part of asset management. They provide valuable data on the condition of the vessel, aiding in decision-making related to repairs, upgrades, and fleet management.

About the MarineNav Oceanus Ultimate ROV

The MarineNav Oceanus Ultimate ROV is designed for superior maneuverability and control. Its distinctive eight-vectorized thruster design and built-in autopilot feature provide ultimate maneuverability when needed most. This ROV can navigate complex underwater environments easily, making it an ideal platform for deploying the Discovery Stereo Camera for detailed hull inspections.

Demonstration Success in Ontario

The hull inspection demonstration in Ontario showcased the effectiveness of this integration. The Discovery Stereo Camera captured high-resolution images and 3D models of the hull, providing valuable data for assessing the vessel’s condition. The Oceanus Ultimate ROV’s maneuverability allowed for precise positioning and smooth navigation around the hull, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the inspection area.

Looking Forward

We are eager to share more details and videos showcasing this reliable solution. The successful integration of the Discovery Stereo Camera with the Oceanus Ultimate ROV opens new possibilities for enhancing underwater inspections. This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to advancing subsea technology and providing innovative solutions for underwater safety and inspection.

Stay tuned for more updates on our Voyis Expeditions and the exciting advancements in underwater inspection technology. Together with MarineNav, we are setting new standards for precision and reliability in hull inspections.
